You’re right to start thinking about Christmas early. 40 Dean Street has been here since 2009, serving some of Soho's most loved traditional Italian dinners for almost 20 years. In December the room is at its best, candlelit and full, with Dean Street lit up just outside the window. Regulars have their usual table, and first-timers leave wishing they had come sooner.
The festive set menu
Christmas here is three courses for £65 a head. There is a roast turkey with all the trimmings for anyone after the traditional Christmas dinner, and the handmade pasta and seafood the kitchen has cooked for years for anyone who wants to keep it Italian. It is warm, comforting cooking for a cold December night that finishes on something sweet before you head back out into the lights. Cocktails and wine
Start the evening with a cocktail while you look over the menu, then move on to a bottle from the wine list. The wine is mostly Italian and French, a great selection of reds and whites chosen to sit alongside the food, and if you would rather someone pick for the table, the team behind the bar know it inside out. It is the sort of evening people are still talking about in the new year.
