On a warm afternoon in Soho, the tables outside 40 Dean Street feel less like central London and more like a small corner of Italy or southern France. Our outdoor seats sit right on Dean Street, with the smell of Italian cooking drifting from the restaurant behind you, a chilled glass of wine in hand, and one of the most-watched streets in London passing by. It is one of the best spots in Soho for people-watching, and the aim is for the meal to feel transportive, like you've stepped out of the city and into somewhere else.

The tables outside on Dean Street
Our alfresco seating runs along the front of the restaurant on Dean Street, set up whenever the weather allows. The tables sit just outside the dining room windows, close enough to feel the warmth of the room and the hum of the kitchen behind them, and far enough out to catch the sun, the air, and the steady current of Soho on the pavement. From the table, the view runs down Dean Street into the heart of the neighbourhood. They get especially busy from late spring onwards.
Sitting at the heart of Soho
Dean Street runs through the middle of Soho. The top West End theatres are a few minutes' walk away, and the energy of one of London's most exciting neighbourhoods is right outside the door. From the alfresco seats, the people-watching is some of the best in the city, with locals, theatregoers, and weekend visitors making the streets feel alive. It is the closest thing to a holiday abroad without leaving central London.

When the alfresco tables are open
The outside tables are weather-dependent. They are at their best in summer and the warmer months, when the conditions match the menu, but outdoor heaters keep the tables comfortable on chillier evenings, which lets us extend the season for as long as the weather allows. The first warm days of the year fill up quickly, so we always recommend pre-booking when good weather is forecast.
Booking your alfresco table
Our outside tables get especially busy when the sun is out. Pre-booking is strongly recommended, especially in summer and the warmer months, when the seats fill quickly. You can book a table on our website or by calling us directly. If you'd like an outside table specifically, please let us know when you book, and we'll do our best to seat you there.
